| Bmw Oakland With two rounds still to come before the end of the year Phil is hoping for a good result at the Cambrian Rally in October and at the Hafren Rally in December. For the uninitiated trail bike rallies are competitive motorcycle events run on much the same lines as car rallies. |

| Bmw San Jose California In December last year BMW UK was persuaded to lend a pair of HP2 Enduros to bike journalists Paul Blezard and Jonty Edmonds in an attempt to win the Hafren Rally a feat never achieved by a multi before. To peoples astonishment Jonty set the fastest time on the first special stage but sadly ripped the tube out of his rear tyre on the second ending his event. Bmw San Diego. Paul Blezard was pleased to come second in the multi class beaten only by Phil Gunn on his modified R 80 GS. |
| Bmw San Francisco Phil came close to winning the multi class in the 2005 championship overall on his R 80 GS and actually won the last three events but was beaten by Pat Keenan on a KTM 950 who scored consistently and took part in every round. Bmw Oakland. It was at this stage that Phil decided to upgrade to the HP2 which has proven to be highly capable in its first full championship season so far. |
| Bmw Philadelphia Phil won the multi class in the first round at the Patrick James Memorial rally in February and came second at the Red Kite rally at Easter beaten only by former Dakar finisher Ben Shuckborough. The two of them were only beaten by one single too that of Ian Musgrove on an F 650 GS Dakar. Bmw Oakland. Phil went on to win the multi class in both the Ryedale Rally and the extremely tough Dyfi Rally. |
| Bmw Seattle He also used his HP2 for the first Rally of Discovery in Cornwall in September in which two other HP2s took part including the overall winner! Bmw Oakland. The next round of the Big Bike Challenge is at the twoday Cambrian Rally in October in which it seems likely that there will be no less than four HP2s competing. |

Barring disasters the Gunner looks certain to win the multicylinder class of the Big Bike Challenge on his modified HP2. Bmw Oakland.
